Parks and Recreation Fun Finder!

The Parks and Recreation Fun Finder application helps citizens locate all the Town of Glastonbury parks, fields, facilities, and trails. Simply enter the address or click on the map to get more locations. You can search by park, field, or facility name in the search box or filter desired amenities/activities.

The application also allows users to view hiking and walking trails on their PC, tablets, or smartphone. It includes trail facts, Passport to Parks locations, Poetry in the Parks locations, downloadable maps, the ability to create your own trail map, create an elevation profile and a “find my location” tool to use when you’re out on a trail.

The Shoddy Mill Preserve, consisting of 77 acres, was acquired by the town in the late 1960’s as part of an overall plan to create a greenbelt along Roaring Brook. Interesting features include the beautifully constructed Shoddy Mill dam, and a high gravel ridge paralleling the brook to the west. The mill produced “shoddy” (reclaimed wool, usually made from rags, which can be processed into felt or fabric of inferior quality. CLICK HERE to download the trail guide.

Directions 
Route 2 East take Exit 10. At end of exit take a left onto Manchester Road (Route 83). Follow Manchester Road approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Shoddy Mill Rd. Shoddy Mill Preserve is on the left. Park on the side of the road near where it crosses Roaring Brook.

Route 2 West take Exit 10. At end of exit take a right onto Manchester Road (Route 83). Follow Manchester Road approximately 2 miles. Turn right onto Shoddy Mill Rd. Shoddy Mill Preserve is on the left. Park on the side of the road near where it crosses Roaring Brook.
