The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced that Automated Work Zone Speed Control (AWZSC) equipment is currently deployed on Route 2 as part of maintenance mowing operations.

According to CTDOT, the mobile unit will remain in place through Friday, June 26. At this time, no additional maintenance operations are planned for Route 2 next week.

During active work zones covered under the program, motorists traveling 10 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit may receive warning notices. Under CTDOT’s program schedule, citations, and monetary fines are expected to begin on or after July 5, 2026.

The Automated Work Zone Speed Control program is designed to improve safety for roadway workers and motorists in active work zones.
