On June 16, 2026, the Glastonbury Town Plan & Zoning Commission approved a site plan application for a proposed 48-unit affordable housing development at 51 Kreiger Lane submitted by Vessel RE Holdings, LLC.

The Commission had previously denied the application, finding that the property's zoning designation permits industrial uses and does not allow new residential development. The applicant appealed that decision to the Superior Court.

The Superior Court later determined that the application should be evaluated under a different provision of Connecticut's affordable housing law and directed the Commission to reconsider the proposal. In response to that order, the Commission reviewed the application and determined that it qualified for approval under the applicable provisions of the statute.

The Superior Court's review of the matter is ongoing and will continue after documents related to the Commission's June 16 decision are filed with the court. Once a final judgment is entered, the Commission plans to seek permission from the Appellate Court to appeal the trial court's interpretation of the affordable housing law as it applies to property zoned for industrial uses.
