Upcoming Utility Work: Eversource to Replace Transmission Structures Near Bell Street

Post Date:07/08/2026 2:50 PM

Eversource Energy has notified the Town of Glastonbury that it is moving forward with its 1767 Transmission Line Structure Replacement Project, which will replace three existing transmission structures located within the utility right-of-way along Bell Street.

The project, which is subject to review and approval by the Connecticut Siting Council, involves replacing three aging wood transmission structures with new weathering steel monopole structures. According to Eversource, the work is part of ongoing infrastructure maintenance and is intended to improve the long-term reliability of the electric transmission system while meeting current national electrical safety clearance standards.

Construction is anticipated to begin in late September 2026, pending all necessary approvals, and is expected to be completed by November 2026, including restoration of the work area.

Residents should note:

  • The work will occur within the existing Eversource transmission right-of-way.
  • No planned interruptions to electric service are anticipated during construction.
  • Construction personnel and contractors working on behalf of Eversource will carry company identification.
  • Nearby property owners have been notified directly by Eversource.

Project maps provided by Eversource are included below to help residents better understand the location of the proposed work and the surrounding area.

The Town has been coordinating with Eversource throughout the planning process and will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available.
