The Town Manager's Office was recently notified by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture that an informational webinar has been scheduled to help farmers learn more about the Connecticut Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant.

The grant program is intended to assist eligible Connecticut farmers who experienced losses due to severe weather events in 2023 and 2024, including frost and freeze events, flooding, hail, drought, excessive moisture, and other weather-related impacts. Eligible farmers who earned at least $1,000 in farm income and experienced at least $500 in documented qualifying losses may be eligible to receive assistance. The first application period is anticipated to open in September.

Upon learning of the webinar, the Town Manager's Office immediately began notifying known Glastonbury farmers by email and telephone to help ensure they were aware of the opportunity.

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture's first informational webinar will be held on Monday, August 3, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will cover program eligibility, the application process, and available resources.
