Recruitment and Application Process

When there is a vacancy, you must fully complete the required online application and submit it prior to the closing date, if applicable. If a closing date is not listed on the posting, it will remain open until filled. Some positions require licensure that must be uploaded during the application process. While additional documentation such as resumes and cover letters are allowed and encouraged, they are not required and do not substitute for a complete job application. Once your submission has been reviewed, you will be notified. The timeline will vary based on the position, ranging from 3 weeks to 3 months. Candidates are kept informed of the process along the way, to the best ability of the department.

If you are chosen to continue in the recruitment process, you will be invited to the next step(s) in the process for that role. Steps may include an online evaluation, oral panel interview or departmental interview. There are no guides on how to prepare for any of these steps.  However, for "skill" evaluations such as Word or Excel, you may practice the programs;  for "knowledge" assessments, you may consider reviewing material related to the subject; and for other positions, you may go online and learn more about the Town of Glastonbury and the services offered.

Once all recruitment steps having been completed for a role, a conditional job offer is made to a recommended candidate. After successful completion of a background check which may include, but is not limited to: a physical; drug screen; driving history; criminal check; social media check; employment and education verifications; and reference checks, a final job offer is made to appoint the individual to the position with the Town of Glastonbury.
