Art Classes are double periods (1 hour). A smock and/or other minor recycled or nature items might be needed for class and may be stored in the art rooms. A list will be available on the website in early June and to your child on the first day of camp. Campers who are absent will be unable to make up the projects missed during their absence. 

All art classes listed below will allow the opportunity to participate in the art show. 

PASSPORT TO WORLD ART
Grades 3-5
Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to travel to different countries creating projects inspired by art in each country's origin. Each time we "land" in a country we'll get a stamp in the personalized passports we make on the first day of camp. Campers will enjoy using various art materials such as paint, clay and fabric to create unique and personal artwork.

CARTOONING BASICS AND BEYOND!
Grades 3-5
Learn the basics of cartooning, creating characters, and writing/illustrating simple comic strips/cartoons!

CREATING PUPPETS
Grades 3-5
Kids will learn how to design, construct, and manipulate puppet characters, focusing on different styles of puppetry each week.

DRAWING & PAINTING
Grades 4-6
In this engaging and varied workshop, campers will have the opportunity to make several projects that develop and strengthen basic observational and drawing skills, before moving on to explore various painting styles and media. This includes pencil, colored pencil, ink, pastels, watercolor, and even acrylic paint on canvas! Participants will be able to express their unique creativity and ideas through the visual mediums of drawing and painting.

FUN WITH CLAY
Grades 3-5
An introduction to clay class, projects will include simple clay projects to be painted. Class will also include work with modeling clay.

SCULPTURE
Grades 4-9
Projects may include working with wire, paper, paper mache, plaster and wood to create masterpieces that may include puppets, sculptures and masks.

MARVELOUS MURAL COLLABORATIONS
Grades 3-9
Artists will join together to draw and paint murals while learning about a specific artist and the style that inspires these projects! Campers will also create individual projects during this class to take home.

All classes to play in the final performance are noted with a (P).  

CLASSROOM MUSIC COURSES
A wide variety of music classes are offered, giving campers an opportunity to explore and have fun with music. These are single period classes that meet for 1/2 hour.

MUSICAL ENSEMBLES/INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC LESSONS
Campers are responsible for providing their own instruments. Instructors can provide information regarding instrument rental or purchase. Campers should bring their school method book for lessons. This information will also be available online in early June. Campers who anticipate being absent during the final week of camp should not plan to be part of an ensemble. The band, jazz band and orchestra will perform in the final concert.  

MUSIC GAMES
Grades 3-4
Music is so much fun! Campers will make the parts needed for various games and activities and use them to learn musical skills in a fun way! This may include instrument building.

MUSICAL ZOO
Grades 3-4
For campers who have never played a band instrument. The goal of this class is to help the camper make a more educated choice as to what instrument to start in their regular school program. Instruments and handouts will be provided. Campers will need to provide a #1.5 B Flat Clarinet reed (available at any music store). The instruments to be experienced are: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet and Trombone.

PERCUSSION
Grades 4-9
This is for campers who have never played a percussion instrument before. Campers will learn the basics of snare drum playing but additional percussion instruments may be introduced. Campers will need to provide “concert snare” drumsticks and an 8” tunable practice pad similar to a Remo brand.

PIANO 1
Grades 3-4
This is designed for campers who have never taken private piano lessons. This class takes an elementary approach using electronic keyboards. Campers will need their own wired headphones and MUST BUY a teacher designated method book after the first class. Headphone adaptors will be provided.

BEGINNING STRINGS LESSON
Grades 4-6
Designed for campers with no experience who wish to start playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass during the summer. Campers will need to bring their own instrument. Please indicate the instrument that will be studying when registering (violin, viola, cello, or bass).

UKELELE
Grades 4-9
Learn how to play this popular Hawaiian instrument that is a member of the guitar family. Campers must supply their own ukulele.

WORLD MUSIC
Grades 3-6
An exciting course allowing the younger campers to explore various musical activities from multiple different cultures. Activities will include rhythmic games, singing, drumming, discovery of instruments and more. 

CHOIR (P)
Grades 3-9
For all students who enjoy singing! Choir classes will learn a variety of songs including our traditional camp song “I am a Child”.

RECORDER
Grades 3-4
Ideal as an introduction to instruments or just for fun! Campers will need to provide a soprano recorder by the second class.

All classes to perform in the final performance are noted with a (P).   

Single period course that meets for 1/2 hour. Please note the level requirements. The instructor has the right to group classes by ability levels. 

RHYTHM AND BEATS
Grades 3-5
Step into the world of dance with this fun and supportive beginner class! Learn basic steps and techniques across a variety of styles while building confidence, coordination and a love for movement. No experience needed!  

WORLD DANCE
Grades 3-9
Travel the globe through dance in this high-energy class! Explore different cultural dance styles, from Latin and African rhythms to Bollywood and beyond, while improving coordination and having fun. No experience needed!

FOLK DANCE
Grades 3-9
Dance your way around the world! Have fun in an active class where campers learn the folk dances of various cultures from around the globe. No experience needed!

BEGINNGER HIP-HOP
Grades 3-5
If you have high energy and love/want to learn to dance, come learn hip-hop! In this beginner-level hip hop class, no previous hip-hop or dance experience is necessary! Every class will start off with a stretch and high energy warm-up. We will be learning different hip-hop moves like pops, isolations, and sharp movements. Come into every class with that high energy and get ready to dance to some fun and upbeat music!

INTERMEDIATE HIP-HOP (P)
Grades 3-9
If you have high energy and previous dance or hip-hop experience then this is the perfect class for you! This is an intermediate-level hip-hop class that will require high focus, and challenge you to strengthen your hip-hop skills. Each class will start off with a high energy warm-up to work on those pops, isolations and sharp movements. We will learn some short hip-hop combinations as well as an intermediate level routine. Bring that high-energy and focus into every class and get ready to dance to some fun and upbeat music!

All classes to perform in the final performance are noted with a (P).   

Music & Arts classes are the focus of this camp. Recreation Classes are designed to give campers a chance to be active during their morning of classes.

GAMES, CHALLENGES AND LAUGHTER, OH MY!
Grades 3-5
Burn some energy playing your favorite games from PE and learn a bunch of new ones. Class will include cooperative games, traditional sports, and outdoor games.
