K9 Program

In 2019, the Glastonbury Police Department added a K9 program to our scope of services to better serve the community.  Since that time, K9 Soleil, with the help of her handler Officer Neal Cavanaugh, has served as an integral member of the Police Department, assisting with a number of Police safety and community activities including:

  • Finding missing persons
  • Protecting police officers
  • Searching buildings
  • Providing support at public events

With Soleil's well-deserved retirement effective July 1, 2025, we begin the process to find our next K9. We will keep you updated as we progress!

Program Funding

A fundraising account was established in 2019 to support our K9's ongoing needs. Donations may be sent to the Glastonbury Police Department at the address listed below. Contributions will support ongoing expenses including training, safety equipment, veterinary care, food, toys, and protective clothing. Checks should be made payable to the "Town of Glastonbury" with "K9 Program" in the check memo. Donors will receive an acknowledgement letter for tax deduction purposes.

Thanks to all of the clubs, businesses, and private citizens who have been so generous over the last several years!
