Effective July 28, 2021: All pistol permit applicants are required to pre-enroll with the State of Connecticut to obtain a registration number which needs to be provided to us upon submitting a pistol permit application to the Town of Glastonbury. The State of Connecticut pre-enrollment link can be found here: CCHRS State of CT SPBI PRE ENROLLMENT . The AGENCY CODE needed for pre enrollment can be obtained in person at the Records Office during normal business hours. Applicants must complete and sign the application and privacy rights forms, then turn them into the police department before receiving a Service Code. Completed application forms must be returned in person to the Police Department to be processed. Applicants paying applicable permit fees in cash must have exact change. Notary Services are also available for an additional fee. ($5)

Applicants will be fingerprinted for a criminal history check at the time they submit their application (Mon-Fri, 8am to 3:30 p.m.). An investigator will then be assigned to conduct a background check and a temporary pistol permit may be issued by the Chief of Police upon successful completion of the background check. Applicants will be notified by mail (USPS) within 4-6 weeks.
