Community Paper Shred Event

The Refuse Disposal Division hosts (2) community shred events annually. Dates for the current year are detailed below.

Upcoming Community Paper Shred Events:

  • October 25, 2025 - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Transfer Station, 2340 New London Turnpike 
  • May 2, 2026 - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM - Transfer Station, 2340 New London Turnpike

These events are FREE and open to Glastonbury residents only.

Event Guidelines:

The community shred events are for disposal of personal, residential documents. Commercial / business disposal is NOT accepted. Please review the following guidelines before attending these events:

  • Limit of (6) bags or boxes per vehicle.
  • Sensitive documents ONLY are eligible for shredding - e.g. pay stubs, bank statements, medical records, personal identifying information, tax forms, etc. 
  • Non-sensitive documents - e.g. junk mail, magazines, books, cards, envelopes, school papers - are NOT accepted at shredding events and should be routinely recycled in your standard recycling container.
  • Click here to view shredding guidance for which documents can be recycled in your standard recycling bin and which should be shredded.
  • Documents should be in secure bags / boxes which can support the weight of the material and can be easily accessed within your vehicle for unloading by staff.
  • Resident verification (driver's license) required.
  • The container(s) or receptacle(s) used to deliver documents will NOT be returned.
